General Concepts For Crushing And Screening Process

The ore crushing process consisting of crushing and screening operations is called crushing and screening process (abbreviated as crushing process). It usually consists of two or three stages of crushing operations and pre-screening operations or inspection screening operations coordinated with each stage of crushing operations.

Each time the ore is crushed, the particle size is reduced to a certain extent. The ratio of the maximum particle size of the ore before crushing to the maximum particle size of the ore after crushing is called the crushing ratio.

The crushing ratio is the multiple by which the ore particle size is reduced after a period of crushing, and is one of the important indicators of the crusher. The crushing ratio of each crushing stage is called the stage crushing ratio. The ratio of the maximum particle size of the original ore before crushing to the maximum particle size of the final product after crushing is called the total crushing ratio.

3.Crushing stages

The number of crushing stages is determined by the total crushing ratio of the crushing process and the crushing ratio that can be achieved by each crusher. At present, the maximum particle size of the raw ore entering the beneficiation crushing is 1300~200 mm, and the particle size of the final crushed product is generally 10~25 mm, so the total crushing ratio is between 130~8, and the crushing ratio that can be achieved by various crushers currently used to crush hard and medium-hard ores is between 3~8. Therefore, even the smallest total crushing ratio cannot be achieved by one stage of crushing, and is usually completed by two or three stages of crushing. One stage or more than four stages of crushing are not common.

4.Open circuit crushing and closed circuit crushing

In a crushing section, if the screening operation is not checked, it is called open crushing. If there is inspection and screening operation, it is called closed-circuit crushing.
